I bought this for a 6th grade reading intervention class. This book offers word work activities as well as reading comprehension questions that the students can be successful completing on their own. Several years ago, my district sent us to a workshop about the Harvey/Goudvis Toolkit. My favorite part of that was the book of sources, which was full of articles that we could share with our students. This is like a giant version of that, but made even better. There is a Set Your Purpose feature which I find very helpful. It has comprehension questions, vocabulary, word work, and a writing activity.
